Implications of the Truth and Reconciliation for Physiotherapy in Canada

This session presents portions of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report and engages physiotherapists in a discussion about the implications of this report for Canadian Physiotherapists. The profession of physiotherapy and its members will need to reflect on their models of practice and advocate for health policy change if they are to contribute to the reconciliation process

Presenters:

Katie Gasparelli received her Physiotherapy degree at the University of Ottawa in 2004.  She also completed her MSc in Rehabilitation at McMaster University in 2014. She works at Six Nations Health Services on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory near Brantford ON. She currently works as a team leader to support the Diabetes Education Program, Health Promotion Program and Therapy Services Team. She is the Indigenous Health Representative on the Global Health Division Executive Committee of the CPA.
