Update Your Profile

Since 2007, the College has provided anonymous member data to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).

All Canadian physiotherapy regulators share anonymous member data with CIHI to contribute to a national, standardized dataset. This data helps inform workforce planning, health system evaluation, policy decisions, and equity efforts across Canada. The goal is to ensure the health workforce reflects current realities and can meet future needs.

The College recently updated its My Profile form to collect CIHI’s new and updated collection areas.

Employment Information (Required)
For each current practice location, you will be asked to provide:

Existing

  • Employment category
  • Employment type
  • Main area of practice

New

  • Position or employment role
  • Amount of virtual care delivered
  • Method of interaction with patients when providing direct care

This enhanced employment information gives a more complete picture of how physiotherapists work today and helps support policy, planning, and resource allocation.

Language (Optional)

Languages other than English in which you can provide physiotherapy services.

This information can be used to determine whether the workforce can support the population’s needs.

Indigenous Identity (Optional)
You will have the ability to select multiple identities or choose "prefer not to answer."

Collecting this data helps inform equity initiatives, workforce planning, and identify gaps. It also supports efforts to better understand how systemic factors like bias and discrimination affect Indigenous health care providers and patients. Indigenous professionals are vital to fostering cultural safety and improving care outcomes.

Racial Identity (Optional)
Similar to the Indigenous identity question, you’ll be able to select multiple racial identities or opt not to answer.

Race-based data collection helps monitor and address racial inequities in the health system. It supports efforts to build a diverse, representative workforce, which is key to improving both patient and provider experiences.
