Seeking Association Steering Committee Members

Are you looking for a leadership opportunity to shape the new professional association for Alberta’s physiotherapists? We’re looking for interested members with strong interpersonal, organizational, and board governance skills to help us launch the new organization.

The Opportunity

The College of Physiotherapists of Alberta Council is establishing a new steering committee to oversee the planning and launch of the new association for our profession. The committee will be in place until the new association is established and ready to operate by January 1, 2022. It is anticipated that the members of the steering committee will become the new association’s first board.

Who We Need

The ideal member will be a creative-thinking, driven individual who thrives in a collaborative team. If you want a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding role, please consider applying. We are particularly interested in members who have governance experience and bring specialized skills such as experience with strategy, finances, legal, human resources, marketing, and/or stakeholder engagement.

Deadline for applications is May 17, 2021 To apply, complete this brief questionnaire https://survey.alchemer-ca.com/s3/50103916/Physiotherapy-Association-Application-May-2021.

Steering Committee Responsibilities

  • Plan the vison and first year of the new professional association
  • Gather input and feedback from Alberta members
  • Identify opportunities and challenges related to the association
  • Ensure all elements of separation from the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta are identified and planned
  • Become the first board of the professional association when it launches by January 1, 2022

Additional Information

The steering committee will be supported by Halford Consulting and the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta so its volunteer committee members can focus on creating the vision and focus for the professional association. Meetings will be held virtually, and they will be scheduled to meet the availability of the committee members. During 2021 the committee will meet monthly. After the association begins its operations, the board members will meet at least four times per year.

The steering committee does not assume the responsibilities or authorities of the professional association until it is incorporated and ready to operate. Until that time, it is a committee of the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta Council.
