2025/2026 Fee Schedule
Council has agreed to no fee changes for the 2025/2026 registration year. The fee schedule will remain the same as the 2024/2025 year.
Bylaw Amendments
The Bylaws were amended to reflect the College’s legal name, College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Physiotherapy Alberta – College + Association was replaced by College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
There has been a shift in recent years with respect to governance terminology in the professional regulatory context. Specifically, the terms President and Vice-President are slowly being replaced by Chair and Vice-Chair. The shift aligns with a recognition of the public interest role of the Colleges and their Councils. The College of Physiotherapists of Alberta Bylaws were amended to reflect this shift, and the term President was replaced by Chair, and Vice-President replaced by Vice-Chair.
Election of Officers and Appointment of Members for Executive Committee and Governance Committee
As per Bylaw 10(3) An officer shall hold office for one year.
Melissa Merritt has served three terms as president; however, a nomination for Melissa as chair was made from the floor indicating her serving an additional term is in the public interest given the strategic initiatives underway at the college and the benefits of continuity with her in this role.
Melissa Merritt was elected as Chair.
Jon Gabbai was acclaimed Vice-Chair.
In addition to the Chair and Vice Chair, Sean Schaffer and William Tung were appointed to the Executive Committee as Members at Large.
Members of the Governance Committee are Michael Stewart, Lisa Evren, Heather Bredy and Gina Ursulak.
Michael Stewart was appointed as Chair of the Governance Committee.
2024 Annual Report
The 2024 Annual Report was approved by Council.
Professional Conduct Membership List
Gabriela Abbud, Terri Anderson, and Eric Moon were appointed to the membership list referred to in section 15 of the Health Professions Act. This list shall be used for appointing members to any hearing tribunal or complaint review committee.
