The College of Physiotherapists of Alberta (CPTA) is seeking regulated members on the General Register who are interested in serving on Council.
Council plays a critical role in fulfilling CPTA’s public‑interest mandate. As we prepare for a strategic planning year, CPTA is looking for individuals who can contribute to effective governance and oversight of the College’s strategic direction.
CPTA uses a competency‑based appointment process. Individuals interested in serving on Council are asked to complete an application form that outlines their skills, knowledge, attributes, and experience.
*The desired competencies and attributes are what Council should possess as a group. Do not be discouraged from applying if you have a few competencies and attributes — they may be exactly what Council is looking for. Everyone will possess a select few and contribute in their own way to the collective body.
Who We Need
This year CPTA is recruiting for two vacant council positions that will begin in June 2026. Recruitment is focusing on governance‑related competencies such as:
- Commitment to public protection and ethical governance
- Strategic planning
- Regulatory and legislative understanding
The Governance Committee will also consider system‑level representation gaps to ensure Council has sufficient breadth of practice exposure and regulatory perspective needed to understand the diverse practice realities across Alberta. Examples include practice environment (urban/rural, varied), practice sector, or stage of career experience.
