Approved English Language Tests
Applicants required to complete a language test to demonstrate proficiency in the English language must complete all four components (writing, speaking, listening and reading) of one of the following language proficiency tests and achieve the minimum score for both the component scores and overall score. The minimum scores must be achieved in the same sitting. Scores from multiples sittings cannot be combined.
Applicants must arrange for the language testing agency to send their results directly to the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. A language test is valid for two years from date of issue.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- The minimum score for each component (listening, structure/writing, reading, speaking) is 21.
- The minimum overall score (not cumulative) is 92.
CanTEST (standardized English proficiency test administered by University of Ottawa in Canada)
- An average score of at least 4, with no component lower than 4, plus an oral interview rating of at least 4.5.
Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- An overall score of at least 7.
