Our regulatory authority
We currently receive our regulatory authority from the Alberta Physical Therapy Profession Act and General Regulation, but will soon move under Alberta’s Health Professions Act (HPA), joining Alberta’s other HPA governed health professions (Schedule 20 pertains to physical therapists).

Alberta’s healthcare legislation is the legal framework or ‘rules’ by which the College can govern and regulate, and by which the College’s members (i.e., regulated physical therapists) can legally provide physical therapy services to the public.
