The College of Physical Therapists of Alberta and the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia developed an agreement to comply with the Alberta/BC Trade Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA). The Colleges' agreement establishes the conditions under which a fully registered physical therapist in BC will be recognized as qualified to practice in Alberta.
Registration requirements
1. Unrestricted practice permit/license – demonstrated by written reference and conduct,
satisfactory to Registrar, from the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia.
2. Good character and reputation – demonstrated by both of the following:
• Written reference, satisfactory to Registrar, from the College of Physical Therapists
of British Columbia.
• Information, satisfactory to Registrar, regarding professional conduct provided on
College registration form.
3. Identification – demonstrated by photo ID such as a current driver's license or passport.
Registration process
Download the application package, complete and submit with the appropriate fees, and documentation listed on checklist for BC applicants (included in the package). For your convenience, forms are provided in fillable form format and can be completed on your computer. Alternatively, you can print the forms and complete by hand.
Processing time
The College acknowledges receipt of applications via email within three working days and provides applicants with an electronic link where they can monitor their application staus.
