Find a Physical Therapist or Verify Registration

Alberta’s regulated physical therapists work in hospitals, private clinics, home care, long-term care, community health and rehabilitation facilities, and schools. Physical therapist appointments can be booked directly - no doctor referral is necessary. Still, some insurers may want a referral before reimbursing costs. Check if yours does.

It's illegal to practice physical therapy or use the title physical therapist/physiotherapist without being registered with the College of Physical Therapists of Alberta. To help protect Albertans’ right to safe, competent physical therapy, the College publishes its member register online.

To find a physical therapist or verify their registration visit our member register, which lists all physical therapists currently registered. Inclusion means an individual is registered and can legally practice and use the title physical therapist/ physiotherapist - it's not a recommendation or referral.

Employers are expected to confirm physical therapist employees are registered and have a valid practice permit and note any license conditions imposed and authorised activities permitted.

Registration confirmation is available by phone if/when online access isn't available. Please contact the College for previous license information or if the name of your physical therapist isn't listed. Note: physical therapists are responsible for maintaining and updating their contact/practice information.
